5 Griddy — Privacy Policy
Last updated: October 3, 2026
5 Griddy does not collect anything about you. There is no account to create, no server to send anything to, and nothing in the app that watches what you do.
That is unusual enough to be worth spelling out rather than asserting, so the rest of this page says exactly what the app stores, where it lives, and the one place money changes hands.
There is no account
You do not sign up, sign in, or give the app a name, an email address, or a phone number. The app never asks for any of them, so there is nothing for anyone to look up, lose, or hand over.
Nothing leaves your device
The app makes no network requests of its own. It has no server, and it is not connected to one. The word list and every day's puzzle are built into the app when it is downloaded, so it does not fetch a puzzle, look up a word, or report a result.
This is a property of the app itself rather than a promise about how the data is treated once collected: it is not collected, because there is nowhere for it to go.
What the app remembers, and where
Everything the app remembers is stored on your device, in the app's own storage, and stays there:
- How each day went, and the day you are on now
- Your current attempt at today's grid, so closing the app does not lose it
- Your streak and your progress
- Results for past days you have played from the archive
- Your settings
- Whether you have unlocked the full archive
None of it is transmitted, backed up to us, or visible to us. We cannot see any of it, which also means we cannot recover it for you.
No analytics, no ads, no tracking
The app contains no analytics, no crash reporting, no advertising and no tracking of any kind. There is no third-party software development kit in it that reports on your behaviour, no advertising identifier is read, and you will never see the prompt that asks permission to track you across other apps and websites — because the app has no use for it.
Purchases
5 Griddy offers one optional purchase: unlocking the full archive of past puzzles. The store you got the app from processes that purchase — the App Store on iPhone and iPad, under Apple's own privacy policy, and Google Play on Android, under Google's. We never see your payment details, your card, or your billing address — neither store shares them with us.
What the app keeps is the result: a note on your device that the archive is unlocked. "Restore purchase" asks that same store to confirm that note again, for example on a new device.
Children
The app collects no personal information from anyone, including children. There is no account, no profile, no messaging, and no way for one player to reach another.
Deleting your data
Deleting the app deletes everything. Your results, streak, settings and progress live only in the app's storage on your device, so removing the app removes them with it. There is no copy anywhere else.
For the same reason, we cannot delete, export, or restore your data on request: we have never had it. A purchase is the exception — that record belongs to the Apple or Google account you bought it with, and that store can restore it.
Changes to this policy
If the app changes in a way that changes this policy — if it ever gains a server, a leaderboard, or anything that sends data off your device — this page will be updated before that version ships, and the date above will change with it.
